Laurel Doyle is an Early Childhood Education professor with experience teaching courses on Infant Toddler Development and the Care and Education of Infants and Toddlers. Professor Doyle is a credentialed teacher in the state of California and emphasizes the importance of learning through play and from the children's interests (emergent curriculum). Professor Doyle works closely with the Cosumnes River College Child Development Center teachers as they mentor and support her practicum students. The Child Development Center enrolls older toddlers, as does Roseville Community Preschool, where Professor Doyle had the opportunity to work with the children there in the capacity of a parent volunteer.
Professor Doyle has dedicated her career to understanding the critical early years of life, focusing on children's developmental milestones and educational needs. Her teaching philosophy centers on creating an engaging, supportive, and research-based learning environment where students can explore the complexities of early childhood development and learn best practices for nurturing and educating young children. Professor Doyle understands that relationships are the cornerstone of all teaching and learning, and this process starts with our youngest learners. Attuning to a baby's vocalizations, body language, and facial expressions helps the early care provider understand that child's needs, wants, and feelings and strengthens the infant-adult relationship. As the teacher learns more about the child, they can create an ever-expanding responsive learning environment that integrates language, cognitive, physical, physical, and social-emotional development within a caring learning community.
Professor Doyle's courses are highly regarded for their comprehensive and hands-on approach, preparing students to excel as early childhood educators. With a passion for early childhood development and a dedication to academic excellence, Professor Doyle continues to inspire and educate future leaders in the field.
