Julie Weatherston is Communications Director for the For Our Babies project in WestEd's Center for Child and Family Studies. For Our Babies is a national campaign to promote healthy development in U.S. children from conception to age 3.
Weatherston has primary responsibility for arranging speaking engagements, special events, and other outreach efforts for the campaign.
She is also the host of the For Our Babies podcast series and consults on content development for the campaign.
Before joining For Our Babies, Weatherston served as the Professional Growth Coordinator for Wested's Program for Infant Toddler Care (PITC) Partners for Quality (PQ), a training program developed to improve the quality of family child care and center-based infant/toddler care throughout California. As Professional Growth Coordinator, Weatherston coordinated the development of curriculum content and negotiated agreements to offer academic credit through various colleges.
Previously, Weatherston worked as a PITC PQ Trainer providing training and technical assistance to infant/toddler programs throughout the Bay Area.
Weatherston has also assisted on several projects for WestEd including coordinating the Special Seminars on Infants and Toddlers, implementing PITC at community colleges, and developing virtual tours of the PITC demonstration programs.
Prior to her work with WestEd, Weatherston served as a Child Care Coordinator on the West Coast for the U.S. General Services Administration, where she was responsible for planning and overseeing child care program development.
Weatherston received a BA in psychology from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan and an MA in early childhood education from Mills College.
