I am currently a Technical Assistance Specialist for the Migrant & Seasonal Head Start Technical Assistance Center (MSHS TAC-12) at the Academy for Educational Development (AED) I formerly held position as a Mentor Coach for the National Head Start Program and Portland State University- Oregon Center for Early Childhood Care and Training (OCCET). Previously, I was Program Specialist for the MSHS Disabilities Quality Improvement Center at AED, and co-authored the� Interagency Agreement Checklist and Guide, Mental Health Services Checklist and Guide for Screening and Assessments in MSHS programs�.
As the Education, CDA and Mental Health Specialist for the Oregon Child Development Coalition, I developed and implemented systems, procedures, monitoring, training materials, technical assistance and coordinated services for the program which serves more than 2,500 MSHS children (birth- 5 years). Additionally, I have held the positions of Mental Health and Disabilities Administrator, Education/CDA trainer, Communications Disorders Technician, and preschool teacher. I have advised Head Start grantees at the state and local level through participation in HSAC, grant writing,community collaborations, Bilingual Education Committees, and Integrated Services Teams. I am a presenter at national and local conferences, and have served on federal monitoring review teams.
Recent projects/work: 2004- conducted a pilot stude of MSHS children's pragmatic langauge development and second language acquisition (published thesis- University of Michigan).
2005- Collaboration with the Las Manos de Apa- Fatherhood Involvement project to develop training curriculum for staff and Latino fathers.
