Cheryl Oku is the Demonstration Site Project Coordinator for Watch Me Grow: the First 5 San Mateo County Special Needs Project. She previously provided training and technical assistance to the First 5 California Special Needs Project through CIHS Sonoma State University. She has served in a wide range of roles including infant care teacher, program co-director, parent educator, infant-toddler specialist, instructor and consultant.
Oku�s work in early care and education has focused on improving the quality of care for young children and their families through local, regional and statewide initiatives, such as the UCSF California Child Care Health Program and the WestEd Program for Infant/Toddler Care and Beginning Together.
Oku obtained a BA in psychology from Occidental College, an early childhood and elementary education Credential from Pacific Oaks and a designated subjects credential: adult education and parent education from San Jose State University.
