Hello! Thank you for logging on to learn more about my journey in Early Childhood Education. My name is Lisa Martin and I am currently a WestEd Trainer for the PITC. I was also a trainer for StoryQuest, an early literacy project through California State University at Sonoma.
I discovered my passion for children while working in a "Mother's Day Out" Program in Austin, Texas. Within a short period of time, I went from floater to teaching assistant to lead teacher to school. YES!! I knew that if I were going to help children, I needed to go back to school and study child development.
I hold a BA in Journalism with a Minor in Philosophy. I have completed more than 30 units in early childhood education and hope to finish a Masters in Child Development. I loved being in the classroom and being with children, but I knew I could reach more of them by the use of my writing and public speaking skills. It was the combination of these gifts and passion that brought me to WestEd.
